Nibley Swifts

Saturday 29 March 2025

Come and hear the latest on the Nibley Swift project with project co-ordinator Peter Kirmond who has news about how the project is developing and some of the interesting things it has already revealed.

As Peter says ‘The project started in 2022 after swifts had nested in a box on our house the previous year. An appeal in On The Edge hoping to find maybe half a dozen people around the village prepared to have swift boxes on their houses resulted in EIGHTY FIVE being put up that year and there are now well over 100 dotted all around the parish.
Although only a few have been nested in so far, using data from other colonies, I’ll be showing how the numbers are likely to rise and what other things I hope to find out about these exciting summer visitors. I’ll also be sharing some amazing facts about these birds.

After an interval, Megan Adamou (Community Action Officer with Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust) will give a short presentation on how they can help communities like ours with their biodiversity plans, leading into a discussion on next steps here.
